      The South Zone of Cusco

      South Zone of Cusco

The Apu Ausangate and its 7 Lagunas, The 7-Color Mountain, Vinicunca, Palcoyo, Tipón, and The Southern Valley of Cusco

The Cusco area is boundless, featuring natural, cultural, intangible, and tourist resources that enrich journeys and experiences.

For example, the Gastronomic route to the Southern Valley or its variant and the Baroque route with its Andean Sistine Chapel as the main attraction, passing through the wetlands of Hucarpay and unique villages like Oropesa, Tipón, Saylla, Huaro, Urcos; each of them with special and interesting characteristics to discover.

      The Snowy Mountain of Ausangate

The sacred snow-capped Ausangate is surrounded by extensive and luminous multicolored lakes such as Sibinacocha, Pukacocha, Otorongoqocha, as well as snow-capped peaks, stone forests, glaciers, and vast plains that impress with their magical landscape. Moreover, it is admired not only for its extraordinary beauty but also respected for what it means in Andean cosmology. All of this is part of the new route called the 7 Lagunas del Ausangate, an incredibly beautiful outdoor route from start to finish.

The Apu Ausangate also houses the famous Rainbow Mountain (also called Cerro Colorado or simply ‘Rainbow Mountain’), one of the most important attractions in Cusco. Located more than 100 kilometers from the city of Cusco, at an altitude of 5,200 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.), it is a mountainous formation tinted with various shades resulting from the complex combination of minerals and the endogenous and exogenous process of millions of years.

The landscape component and the great importance of water at this moment in our history make up a great route to explore and discover.
